Dr. Murphy is a specialist in Outpatient Minimally Invasive Knee Replacement, Partial Knee Replacement, Muscle Sparing Anterior Hip Replacement and Birmingham Hip Resurfacing. Dr. Murphy has a decade of experience in outpatient hip and knee replacement as the first surgeon in Cincinnati performing outpatient joint replacement.

Dr. Murphy completed his fellowship in adult hip and knee reconstruction at the world-renowned Midwest Orthopedics at Rush University in Chicago. During his fellowship, Dr. Murphy mastered techniques in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery, quadriceps sparing techniques for knee replacement, partial-knee replacement, minimally invasive anterior hip replacement and Birmingham Hip Resurfacing.

Graduating with honors from Northern Kentucky University in 2003, Dr. Murphy was a four year letterman on the men’s basketball team. He attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine, finishing his degree in 2008. Dr. Murphy went on to complete his orthopedic residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2013. In his final year, he was selected as the Administrative Chief Resident for the Department of orthopedic Surgery. During his tenure, Dr. Murphy published multiple articles in peer reviewed orthopedic journals and has presented his research regionally and nationally.

Dr. Murphy is licensed in Ohio and Kentucky with operating credentials at Beacon Surgery Centers, Evendale Surgery Center, Mercy Jewish Hospital and Bethesda North Hospital. He sees patients at the Montgomery, Fairfield, and Fort Thomas locations with Beacon Orthopedics.

Dr. Murphy and his wife, Elizabeth, have four children. Elizabeth is a Cincinnati native and Oak Hills High School Athletics Hall Fame Member for tennis in addition to playing tennis at Northern Kentucky University from 2000-2004. Outside of his practice, Dr. Murphy enjoys spending time coaching his children and the local community at All Saints Catholic Parish. He is a lifetime exercise and athletics enthusiast.
